Great service. Friendly staff that seems happy to accommodate . Our 3rd time here. We'll definitely visit again.

We stopped in on a Saturday before a concert at a venue down the street. We had just a couple beers and shareable apps. The food was pretty good, typical bar fare is all we tried and the beer was nice and cold. Although the food was average, the service was great. Very attentive wait staff and very quick service. Over all excellent experience.

Food is great and service is awesome! They are very accommodating when you are on a schedule to catch the bus!! Our 2nd visit and we will be back.

Great atmosphere. The bar staff were ace and the guys singing made our night. Thanks for a great time

We love Irish pubs so we gave this one a try for some dinner before attending a Broadway show. We were promptly seated upstairs and ordered our drinks. My husband said the Guinness was a perfect pour! I had the Blueberry Moscow Mule and it was delicious. My husband ordered the beef stew and the portion was generous and flavorful with lots of beef in it. I had the Shepherds Pie which was wonderful. Both out entrees came piping hot which we loved! Our server was very good and we enjoyed being able to watch a rugby game on the screens over the bar area. The prices were good for the area and the location was perfect for attending the theater. We were very pleased with our experience!

The service , food , and atmosphere were outstanding

I'm from Houston but this is officially my bar in NYC. Great live music (I really like Sean McCabe) and good-looking bartenders. (The latter is what matters.)

  • *****

This time was disappointing; grilled chicken was not fully cooked and when mentioned to waitress near end of meal, she offered to take to kitchen -but it was time to leave for show - no offer of any amount taken off bill.

  • *****

Cute little pub. Nice and clean. Seems like most places in New York that are old are very dingy but not this place and already decorated for Christmas. We did not have food so I cannot give it a 5 but very enjoyable and will defiantly will go back to try some food.

    Great Atmosphere ... ??
    Come Check it Out !

  • *****

Great atmosphere and the best bar staff! We will be back every time we come to the area!

We had a few minutes to kill before a show. The Celtic Pub appeared to be the perfect stop for a quick bite and a cocktail. Staff directed us to the Roof Top Beer Garden where were seated immediately. We ordered cocktails and a couple apps.

It was a beautiful day in NYC. Service was fast and personable.

Apps, salads and entrees range $11- $30. Most items under $20.

Was here Wednesday night with my boyfriend on the rooftop. Great spot in the heart of the city with a great beer selection and yummy classic american bar food. Service was great Isabel suggested us the perfect appetizers and made sure to keep the beers coming all night! Definitely a great spot to watch a game. I found my spot to watch the playoffs this year !

The wrap was fresh and tasty. Rooftop bar is chill and perfect for some drinks and shots. Their sex on Manhattan drink was very tasty! The steak is delicious!

  • *****

This place was great. Worst thing I could say was the stairs to the rooftop bar and that was by choice! Haha. Rooftop view is nothing extravagant but it's still very decent. Would recommend this place. Great drinks. Wonderful, friendly service. The lady at the bar was such a help with us being from out of state too! Everything about this place was good.

  • *****

Came into New York for a business meeting with some colleagues and we stopped into this pub, our bartender Kristine was FABULOUS! Excellent service! 100% recommend this place! She exemplifies excellent customer service and would highly recommend her to management and any customer service related industry! Thanks for making our visit a good time Kristine!

We just had a mid-afternoon lunch at the rooftop bar. The drinks (Sangria & Daiquiri), food (calamari, steak & cheese wrap & grilled chicken mango with noodles) & the service was all excellent! Atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommend.

  • *****

Good comfort food. Great service. 3 level bar. Nice roof top. Good spot to watch ppv fights so come early if you want a table. But overall good relaxing ambiance to drink with friends.

Th we came here for a late night dinner. I would say it's a 3.5 so I rounded up.

Location: This place looks cool!! The roof top bar was full so we eat on the 2nd floor. Not quite as nice as the rooftop but you did get to hear the live music from the ground floor, which wasn't bad.

Tip: I would definitely stop by this place to have a few beers and enjoy the live Irish music!!

Service: It was good for what we have experienced in NY. The waiter did a good job of checking on us and refilling our glasses.

Food: The adult meals we're very good. I had the bangers and mash. It was a large portion and extremely tasty. I would definitely get this again. The kids pasta was way under cooked.

Stopped in last night for a few drinks with friends . We sat at on the 3rd level, it was nice and quiet only a few people there , just they way we liked it . Our bartender Kristine was amazing , super friendly, and made sure we always had drinks . We ordered a few appetizers and they were great , the best wings I have had in the city ! Absolutely will be coming back !! Had a really great time .

Oh and they have a nice happy hour special... loved the cosmos!!

Update...true to word , I went again and I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. This time we had Jessica so is just as wonderful as Kristine. Again wings are amazing , had the pizza and also really good . If you haven't gone check this place out !!!

I just spent a girls weekend in New York and the secret gem of our trip was the Playwright Celtic Pub! On our first night, even though it was almost midnight, they were able to accommodate our request for food, which was delicious, no frills, and reasonably priced. The drinks were tasty and strong, the people in the bar were genuinely friendly, and the overall atmosphere was comfortable. In fact, we enjoyed ourselves so much the first night, we returned the next night and stayed until last call! With all the chain-swill of Times Square, you'd be a fool not to visit Duff and friends at Playwright!

This place has just great pub food, been here with co-workers a few times, never a bad experience. If you are looking for a pub with good food and can have a conversation this is it.

Had less than 30 minutes to grab a quick quick dinner and catch a show. We went to ask if they could help us. The woman at the door called upstairs to check and much to our surprise was told yes. She could guarantee we would have hors d'oeuvres quickly. When we got upstairs I decided to go for an ask if we could order more than hors d'oeuvres. He said sure. My wife ordered a pizza and I ordered a burger with switch cheese and grilled mushrooms. It was out within 10 minutes and delicious. We made our show and had a great quick meal as well. Thanks so much! Hope to be back soon.

  • *****

Good hot food. Lots of options for all (kids included). Great service. Good prices. Nice atmosphere. We would definitely visit again.

  • *****

Good food, kind service, tasty beers, and it's close to downtown! I had a delicious shepherd's pie here, and washed it down with a Smithwick's. Prices are on par with most Times Square are restaurants, but it's a pretty cool little place to get a quick drink and watch a game. Also, we were here for the NYC marathon, and they gave us 20% off. Big win!

  • *****

This place knows how to deal with the pre-theater crowd. The service was fast and the food pretty decent. We only had an hour before the theatre and we had food within 15 minutes of sitting down.

  • *****

Dropped in here after a matinee of Hair for a snack and Irish Coffee. Perfect spot to relax and meet friendly people. $8 Irish tasted much better than the $22 one I had earlier at The Plaza. Bartender was a hoot when she misunderstood a Spanish customer's Budweiser order and made him a White Russian. He was a good sport, paid for it all and liked the WR so much, he asked for the recipe. Potato skins were yummy. Felt welcome and will go back next trip for sure.

A very nice pub. After a long flight from CA and a quick walk around Times Square we were ready for a bit to eat, We were walking back to our hotel and passed by this pub. We decided to go in and it was a very good choice. The Shepard's Pie was great as was the Fish & Chips. I don't remember which beer I had but I know I enjoyed it very much. Great service and very friendly people. We tried to go back late one evening after a show but it was very crowded, as it was every time we passed by.

  • *****

Stopped in for a quick happy hour beer. Had a good happy hour selection win prices I did not see again our whole trip!! Bar tender was efficient but not overly friendly. Seemed like a typical pub, would return again.

  • *****

The food is pretty ok, It's a dependable place to watch almost all boxing fights..even the lame ones. Most places are usually over packed or crowded for ppv fights but this place is big and dependable. I always hit this place up for all ppv's just get there during the undercards to get a seat for your party or your girl.

  • *****

My mother and I went over the Labor Day weekend. It was conveniently located near our hotel so we went three nights in a row. The staff was more than courteous. The first night was packed but the bartender, Eddie, found a spot at the bar for us. For the next two days, we were treated like regulars. The crowd was friendly as well and drinks were reasonable for the area. We highly recommend!

  • *****

Just stopped in for something to hold us over as we missed lunch. Ordered slider and wings with a couple of smithwicks. Beer cold, served promp, and food was pretty good. Had a few refills on the smithies but all worked well for what we were looking for.

  • *****

We had a great time here! We were greeted by the bartender within 1 min of sitting down. The bartender was busy serving other people and didn't hover over us but definitely was available to serve us when we needed it. The music was great and other guests seemed to be having a good time. We didn't eat while we were here but we thought the drinks were great. Our bartender, Gary was great!!

  • *****

Great little spot to have a few drinks and basically catch some soccer, rugby or GAA games. I've tried the appetizers here and they were very good. This pub attracts quite the crowd during matches and it is quite vibrant... I like the place.

  • *****

GREAT PLACE! great drinks, great music, the bartenders are awesome and friendly. Betsy was great and so friendly and nice. Def going back soon!

  • *****

Visited NYC for a few days and this place felt "normal". Well lit, lots of tv's and pretty decent prices. Friday happy hour wasnt too packed and everyone got drinks quickly. No complaints, check it out!

Wow, was here yesterday to watch a pay-per-view event (UFC Fight), and I was impressed by this place. Situated in Times Square, this is a pleasant friendly bar to go. they have a fine selection of beer, and of course, delicious food, from chicken fingers to hamburgers, with Cajun fries...this place is a cool chill spot. I can't tell you how good it felt to go see a sporting event at a bar, and no drama occurs (Brooklyn take a Hint). I will definitely go see my next sporting event here...Oh and one last thing I forgot to mention, no cover charge to go see a pay per view event at this venue, in this recession, this truly deserves great emphasis.

  • *****

What can I say other then WOW!!!! The food was great and the beer was cold. The barman, PJ was great and kept my kid well entertained. Would definitely recommend this place to my friends.

  • *****

Happy to have found this place on a recent business trip. While it's in a very touristy location, it seemed to get a much more laid back, fun crowd. Came with a coworker and meet up with a friend who is a Chicago transplant, and we all agreed the pub is very Chicago (which, in my mind, is a compliment). Doesn't seem like a bar you find in downtown Manhattan at all, even the prices seemed slightly less than other places (glass of decent wine was about $9, top shelf vodka cocktail was $10).

Staff was friendly and very attentive and ended up having more fun that is recommended when you have big meetings the early the next morning.

  • *****

Burgers and beer were great. Service was awesome. Chocolate mousse cake was amazing!

  • *****

This has become our "go to" place after the theater. The food is good and their portions are a nice size. For the theater district the prices are very good, and we've never had a problem with the service.

    4 Story Pub, yes please!
Not knowing that they were holding a major Saturday Hawaiian themed event, I marched up to the 3rd floor, grabbed a beer and people watched. The bartender up there had a bunch of friends and his friends were playing beer pong, he was very good about paying attention to customers and not just his friends. There was a DJ who wasn't bad either. I went up to the 4th floor when I got bored and liked the open atrium, however there was no where to sit, so I headed back down.
I would have left after I finished my beer but the attentiveness and fun on the first floor is what kept me there. I enjoyed speaking with John the bartender who offered drink selections and always made sure I had a full glass. The atmosphere was just different and lively. I'm from California where bars close at 2, so when last call was given at 4 I was shocked that I was still enjoying myself, of course the drunkin people watching is always my favorite.
I didn't try the food, but I might go back as the pizza looked really delicious!

  • *****

I loved this pub. They made me and friends feel welcomed both nights we were there. Our bartender "Mr. Ireland" I wish I could remember his name, well he was such a sweetie pie and let's not forget Hot :). He made us feel comfortable, it felt like we were at a bar back home. Johnny was also nice and also gave us free delicious shots. Overall I highly recommend this place if you're in NY. I will definitely be coming back to this pub

  • *****

His place is wonderful. Amazing food, drinks, and most of all amazing people. It is a great place to come in for a drink ( you will most likely end up drinking more than one drink though) and relax and watch tv on any of their 7 screens. You can sit at the bar, the tables, or upstairs in their outside patio dinning area. Great place and great people.

  • *****

This place was great! We were outside checking out the menu when some guy told us the food was great so we decided to go in a check it out I always like trying out new places. The place was decorated for Halloween it looked great! They also played good music. We both ordered burgers which were both cooked to order and when they came to the table they were perfect and you can tell that each burger is freshly made fries were also good. I also got a French onion soups which was absolutely delicious! If your a burger person I def recommend this place. Hope you enjoy!

  • *****

Zach is one of the most attentive and knowledgeable bartenders ever. He knows his bourbon, he is attentive, we couldn't have had a better time. I love this place and will definitely be back. If you come ask for him, he will take good care of you.

  • *****

My favorite place to go for UFC Fight Nights!!

Sometimes you get a rowdy crowd but I'm happy for the 3rd Floor were you can escape too were the First Floor crowd is loud!!! 2nd Floor is all about sitting down eating.

I dislike that they don't make Red Devils, they seem to run out of Midori whenever I try to order a Midori Sour & the Creamsicle taste disgusting. Stick to the beer.

Hubby and I wandered in here on our 1st day in NYC while wandering around by our hotel in the theater district. They had a sign out front about Happy Hour specials, so we went in. We sat at the bar on the 1st floor and we each had a $4 Shock Top Lemon Shandy. This was one of the few places in NYC where the bartender didn't give us attitude for asking about the Happy Hour specials. She was really nice and made us feel very welcome. Another day, we ended up going to their other location on 48th, and while the bartender there was also nice, we didn't like the vibe as much. Plus, the 48th St. location doesn't have bars on multiple floors like this one. Anyway, we ended up back at this location on another day (after having tried several other bars during our trip) because we remembered how much we liked it compared to other places. This time, we sat at the rooftop bar, which was really nice. This bartender was also very nice. We got to enjoy cheap beer with a fabulous view! They also have other Happy Hour specials (like $5 Cosmos) that we didn't try. Keep in mind that the stairs up to the rooftop bar are very steep! Highly recommend for a cheap drink in a relaxing atmosphere, though.

  • *****

    Decent Irish pub.

Come here for Jookjoint Shimmy Blues parties, on Saturdays... on the top floor. It's a bunch of young people shimmying, grooving, and grinding to all sorts of chill bluesy tunes.

Stopped in for a quick bite before seeing Spiderman; turn off the dark-conveniently located steps away from the theatre district, my husband and I came here to catch a glimpse of football on their many tv screens and had some beers. The bartender John was great, very attentive and efficient. I ordered a burger and it was delicious.

Prices are very reasonable for the location and food was great.

We came here for a coworker's going away party and had such a wonderful experience. I called 3 weeks ahead to book the rooftop and made the reservation with Kenny, who allowed me to book the roof without having to pay upfront.

He gave me his cell phone number and I reconfirmed a week prior - the weather forecast showed rain so to be safe, Kenny let me reserve another section in the Playwright as well! The day of was a crazy rainstorm so Kenny called to let me know they would still make the rooftop work for us and if we didn't want to stay there, they'd set up another section of their pub for our group.

We ended up having the entire rooftop which was covered and an absolutely perfect spot for our event! We had our own private bar and Kenny was so kind and offered us appetizers on the house!

Absolutely wonderful experience, everyone who came had such a great time and will certainly come back for future events.

    Thanks so much!!

This was our last Groupon deal to use in NYC during our week stay. The deal was for 2 appetizers, 4 entrees, and 4 beers. Place was pretty big 3 floors.. TV's everywhere. Service was just ok, she didn't come and check on us often (assuming it was because our dinner prepaid) but overall guess service wasn't that bad.

    Appetizers ordered:
Fried calamari-- now this was asian infused because it was served bean sprouts, nuts, spicy chili sause and the usual marinara sauce. Although, we'd never tasted calamari with the nuts and the sprouts it was pretty tasty!!

Margarita pizza-- was a decent sized appetizer. That was pretty good as well.

    Entrees:

2 of us had the Celtic pub burger! Now that was a damn good burger it was 10 oz burger served on a sesame roll.

The BF had the Pastrami Reuben sandwich-- he thought it was ok. I got a taste of it and thought it was good.

My other friend ordered the chicken sandwich which she enjoyed as well.

So, everything was pretty good..IF you want a chill place to hang out and watch some sports this is the spot! And you'll probably have better luck with the service if you go with out the groupon deal! ;)

  • *****

The food wasn't amazing, but it was some of the best we had while in NYC. The prices were also very reasonable compared to many of it's surrounding options. We were very pleased with our choices (cheeseburger and turkey club). I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good lunch/dinner not wanting to spend a ton of money. Large beer selection also.

  • *****

Stopped in yesterday after seeing a matinee.

Great little spot. Has a long bar on the left and tables on the right. There is a dining area upstairs, but we only went to the bar.

The bar area had all the NFL games going on at the same time. It was a little bit like sensory overload, but in a good way. The beer was good, as was the appetizer sampler we ordered. Wings, chicken fingers, potato skins, and cheese sticks.

The bartender was attentive and the atmosphere was a lot of fun. Would love to go back.

  • *****

I stop In often for lunch, the food and service is excellent, especially Tara, her friendly personality, attentiveness and overall good spirit keeps me coming back.

  • *****

Sandwiches, wraps, salads, etc. They even have an outdoor roof seating area on the 3rd floor. Three different floors on which to sit, so you can choose a quieter (or louder) floor, depending on your preference. Relaxed, laid-back vibe with great service.

  • *****

We stumbled into this place as times square tourist a few years ago. It was a place where anybody can get a drink, no fuss. Every year that my bff and I would visit the city, we would stop by this pub on our last night to say goodbye to NYC. There's always people here, even on a random Monday night. They have music on the 1st floor, drinks prices are reasonable, and you can get a cosmo for $5, draft beers for $4 during Happy Hour. I recommend the fish and chips here.

Now that I finally moved to NYC, I took my bff here last month on her last night here. We like the 1st floor, always busy, and yes, you can always gets a drink. You don't have to be anybody special. I love this place!

  • *****

I like this pub for pre-broadway drinks. It has really good atmosphere and a phone charging station.

  • *****

Very surprised a how great the food was in a casual bar. Easy seating, waitress and bartender were Irish, lots of TV's (I mean lots) and chicken pot pie was very good.

Several bar patrons had Irish accents- I think that speaks well for a "Celtic Pub"

Only negative: beer served in warm glass.

Give it a try for casual authentic Irish.

  • *****

Great rooftop! Perfect spot for a cocktail before a show. Great service, friendly staff!

  • *****

Went there for a cold beer. The top deck was awesome and the beer very cold. A very clean bar without the spilled beer smell in fact you can eat off the floors. Stop by and have a cold one.

  • *****

Came here last Tuesday to pre-game before America's Got Talent.
They had $5 cosmos during happy hour and they were absolutely delicious! Strong too! I had 3 and I was good for the night :)

The bartender was a sweetheart and kept us entertained! I will be back. Very chill environment.

  • *****

The staff is Extremely friendly. Also they are very aware of what goes on. Great bartenders. There was a mixed crowd. Drinks were not light. Best pub in NYC!

  • *****

We found this pub to be a welcome stop before our showtime. The servers were friendly and happy for us to stay as long as we wanted in bitterly cold weather. My husband found their buffalo wings to be excellent! Great find in the theater district!

  • *****

Find the nachos with chorizo on the appetizer menu! Pair with a cold draft and enjoy the roof deck, but avoid the tables in the direct sunlight in the mid afternoon.

  • *****

This is a favorite spot for me if i am seeing a show in the area. I've found the both the downstairs bar area and the restaurant area upstairs enjoyable. Great mebu, I've been happy with everything I've ordered.

  • *****

My best friend & I are visiting NY for my 21st & wanted to find a good local pub on a Tuesday night & came across this place

Drinks: Great! We ordered shots of Jameson & a cocktail each; we didn't order food. Drinks were great though

Ambience: Young adult crowd, trendy, lively

Service: The bartender was very friendly & attentive

I would come back! Great for a quick, local (in the city) bar hop!

  • *****

We were seated right away on a Saturday rainy evening before our Broadway show. The sirloin burgers are awesome and flat bread pizza average but large in size as an appetizer. I suggest ordering the calamari appetizer..so AWESOME! Excellent speedy friendly service and great prices on beer specials. Ps I really don't think it's necessary nor entertaining to see a drunk guy during my dining or drinking experience

  • *****

Great food.. Had the appetizer platter and a pasta ewoth chicken to follow.. Was beautiful. Greta service from an authentic Irish waitress.. Which you don't see to often in nyc. As Arnold would say... I'll be back!!!

  • *****

Had a Smuttynose beer...very similar to Fattire and was excellent with Chicken Pot Pie! Very fresh and hot! Husband had Shepards pie which was good but he also loved the pot pie! Wait was more than usual, but we'll worth it! Thanks Kathy for the great service! And kudos to the chef! Can I get the recipe? We'll be back!
Fyi...two story, and rooftop. No elevator but seating available downstairs.

  • *****

You can definitely eat here for a reasonable amount between their specials and $10 menu. Portions are generous and service is quick and friendly. Fun environment and family friendly. We were here around the lunch hour. It's close to Times Square and great for a quick lunch. Looked like they had good breakfast specials too and they were willing to let us order off that menu even though we came in after the cut off. We chose from the other menu but that was nice of them. Zach was our server by the way and he was very good.

  • *****

Went to the playwright pub last week, Friday with some friends after work. Great spot and incredibly great staff. It was pretty busy, so we made our way to the third floor (never been to a pub with so many levels ha!) Our bartender Anya was friendly and a sweetheart, she even remembered me from the last time I came in for lunch. Food is pretty decent, pizza and nachos are my go to dishes. Only been here a handful of times but its an awesome spot to hang out with friends after work.

  • *****

Playwright is a bit off the beaten track from Times Square. It's a many level bar, but don't be fooled in thinking this is typical bar food, as the food is actually really good.

Salad, sandwich, you cannot go wrong. Everything we have had here we really like. And, they pour a good Guinness.

The best service is at the bar - so sit up there, make friends, with the bartender, and have a great meal and a beer while watching some football.

  • *****

The bar on the 2nd floor has the best $6 Appletinis & Cosmos! A cool place to hang out for drinks. There happy hours starts from 7pm to 10pm, which works perfect for us. Food is okay. I wish they had more options for vegetarians like me.

  • *****

Amazing place. Visited with my friend at Friday evening (December, 18). The pub was full of friendly guys (most of them were Celtic FC fans). Excellent quality Guiness beer (8$) and huge portion of buffalo chicken wings. Little bit loud but fantastic atmosphere. I recommend this place for all pub's fans. Cheers! Slinte:)

  • *****

Had lunch here before a show. Quick great service. Food was awesome. The water boy was so on top of filling glasses, no one ever asked if we wanted drinks?? Strange. I asked him if there were any special drinks, he spoke little English and pointed to the drink menu, which later I found out there were specials not on that drink menu :-(

  • *****

Stopped in for drinks before seeing "Once" at the Jacobs theater. The bartender was attentive and fun. The drinks were good (I got the Celtic lemonade and the white sangria).
    No complaints :-)

  • *****

Reasonable selection of beer at about neighborhood prices, but a really nice little rooftop bar.
My friend ordered the nachos which were pretty good.
Can't believe I've been around this neck of the woods since 1991 and this was the first time I went in here. I expect to be back soon.

  • *****

The name "Celtic Pub" got my friend's and my attention. The outside decor does not look that great or attractive but the inside looked much nicer. We sat on the second floor by the window.

The good was pretty okay. I had the Medley which was appetizer sampler (buffalo wings, potato skin, cheese sticks, and chicken cutlets). My friend had the beef stew. The sampler was pretty good and the stew not too bad.

The service was good. The serve came over to make sure we had enough drinks and see how we are doing.

I enjoy eating here. The environment was good.

  • *****

I had the pre-show dinner special. I got the chicken and it was beyond delicious. One of the best meals I've had. Dessert was the chocolate chip cheesecake and was amazing. I will come back the next time I visit the city!

  • *****

Randomly found this spot while looking for lunch near a conference in Times Square. The atmosphere is pretty great - so long as you enjoy pubs - the service was friendly and prompt and the food was very tasty.

This is definitely the sort of place to go watch football (not American football) and all of the tv's had on the Chelsea v. Manchester game on while we were there. I got the shepherd's pie and it was pretty delicious. Whenever I go to English/Irish restaurants the shepherd's pie is my go-to meal and this one was on par with the rest. They also have a 4th floor beer garden and patio, which sounds awesome but I did not have time to check it out.

Overall I would recommend Playwright's and would go back again.

  • *****

Came here to eat very quickly before a musical. At first it took about 4 minutes for us to locate a hostess, but no big deal. Quickly ate the mini-burgers with some French onion soup. The soup was delicious, I was sorry I had to eat it so quickly. Server was quick and understood we needed to go, so she was very accommodating.

  • *****

Had the Shepards Pie. Solid comfort food that warmed me up on a cold Feb day. Served in a small cast iron skillet which gives it nice flavor.

  • *****

Solid service and delicious beef stew on a cold rainy day. Irish coffees were spot on!

  • *****

Good service, nice rooftop bar which let's you destress perfectly from a busy city, free wifi, always sports on, nice buffalo wings.

Food and service was great!! Accommodated our party of 13! Only complaint was only one bathroom stall where we were sitting so had to wait in line for the bathrooms or go downstairs and wait in line for the other bathroom stall. But would go back again!

Great service--ask for Christine! Friendly, excited, and fast! Fun place on a Friday night. Stopped in to have beverages before a Broadway show and saw streams of people coming in. Great vibe! Planned on just having drinks but saw that the food looked amazing. Boneless pork chops were so delish and tender!

I have stopped in here a couple of times and have always enjoyed myself. This pub is spread out over four floors. They have a fantastic rooftop patio that boasts views of the surrounding theater district. The service is not as good as I would like it to be but it isn't terrible either. Prices are reasonable and they have a relatively expansive menu. It is worth stopping by if you're in the area.

Yummy and quick! Grabbed a quick bite before going to the Hirschfeld theatre. Beef stew was great! Servers were really nice and friendly. Highly recommended.

They got us in and out in an hour so we could make it to a 2pm matinee. Pretty decent corned beef Reuben, too.

great nachos and nice food portions.Respectful yet friendly staff specifically Vanessa . great personality and smile!!

It's nice to get away from the busy streets. This is a great place to get a beer or snack before or after a show. We decided to stop in here because of the history, and everything we looked up about it is true. Great selection . Good service and lots of culture

  • *****

Great food and service. One of the best burgers! Great beer choices and all good food choices! Highly recommend !!!!!!!!

  • *****

I can't say enough about how great their Burgers are! And the fries? To die for! Good wait staff.
    Always friendly and attentive.
I've never had a bad meal there!
    Try the French Onion Soup.
    Delicious!

I like this Irish pub a lot. There are three floors, so there's always a place to sit, although it can get really crowded at lunchtime.

The food is fine, nothing above average for a pub, but not bad at all. The burger is what I usually order.

Drinks are always cold and served by friendly bartenders, especially Aina/Ayna (not sure how it's spelled, but the Irish bartender downstairs with the dark hair who constantly smiles).

I come here a lot and will continue to.

My husband and I wandered in before a show a few blocks away, essentially because we were starving and pub food is generally middling to tasty. The place isn't all that wheelchair-friendly, but what else is new in Manhattan? Luckily, the charming hostess offered to squish the two tiny tables that were the right height together so we'd have room to eat.

I had the grilled, marinated chicken sandwich, which was quite lovely; I imagine it would have been the same even if I hadn't been ready to gnaw off several of my own fingers. The accompanying fries were tasty as well. If you've seen my other food reviews, you know my husband had the burger, which came as ordered with a lovely flavor.

Were I in the neighborhood and the one spot I could use were open, I would return.

Since my friends have difficulty with being on time, one of my girlfriends and I wandered into the bar to avoid pneumonia. We stayed on the ground floor and sat at the bar to kill time. We realized we didn't want to change location and continued our night there, because in all our years of bar going, it was the first time bartender saved us from a belligerent drunk.
After the years that followed this became our go to place. It became our cozy little (not little at all) spot.

Quick drink and bite before matinee. Service was great. Food was good. A bit pricy (location...). Overall very good!

Not a bad place. I'd totally come by again to maybe sit down, relax, and have drinks and food. I only stopped in to grab one drink to kill some time before a Broadway show. At this time there was only standing room though. The drink was pretty weak honestly and a typical 10 bucks a glass. But I guess that's not horrendous because I can easily find places that charge 12-14 bucks a glass lol I really liked the atmosphere. I mean- it is currently Christmas time so that might have helped a bit but the place was decorated so nicely- looked like something out of a holiday movie. They were also blasting Christmas songs - but the most popular ones haha Like "Do they know it's Christmas time" by Band Aid. That one always gets me in the mood :-) Only stayed for about a half hour. Food walked by on trays and it looked pretty good. Bartenders were also pretty fast with service. I'd come back again- but maybe order a bottled beer instead so I know I'm getting what I paid for ;-)

Another stop on our drink our way through Manhattan tour. Spotted this Irish bar with a rooftop patio and decided to stop in. Climbed three flights upstairs and sat in the corner of the bar in the shade (it's hot!). Got two local beers, the Brooklyn lager which was very nice. FYI they close the rooftop patio at 4:30 for dinner service.

Nice local pub. Food was delicious, and the bartender was very nice and attentive. Their mussels were some of the best I've ever had!

Soooooo, I'm drunk but this is so mothereffing good!!! My bartender, Ronan, is funny and attentive...like my wife only with a bunch of booze. The guy rocks. The food is money in the bank. I got the fish'n'chips and the signature Messy Burger and a couple of Jameson and ginger ales. Killin it, I know. I highly recommend it, because although it's right in the middle of this tourist trap, you get the vibe of a great hometown bar. Go here.

Very cool bar. At dinner here prior to bus picking us up. Had the pork tacos, sweet potato and french onion soups...all were perfect. Was loud, but seeing it was later in the evening and on a Sunday with football games on, we really didn't mind. Met a few interesting couples while there. Average price for NYC. Would highly recommend!

I found this restaurant on my way to another restaurant in the area. Being spontaneous, we decided to try it. What a great surprise!

The rooftop terrace is fantastic - almost made me feel I was dining in Europe.

I had the calamarie as an appetizer and the salmon for dinner - delicious. My friend had the fish and chips and it also was very fresh and tasty.

If you are on the area or even if you are not, I highly recommend it - you will enjoy it.

Had a few belts and some laughs here on the final night of business trip to NYC. Nice vibe, cocktails were up to snuff, friendly patrons. Didn't sample the grub. Great place to drop in for a cocktail or 3 while in the Times Square area.

We had wings that were awesome, we also had the Shepard's pie OMG. This place is a must do in time square.

This pub was awesome! Went on a Friday Night and the vibe was great. Great servers/bartenders even the bouncer was very welcoming. We didn't eat but food looks great and price is reasonable with what you get. We did hit up the bar on the second floor where Mike our awesome and entertaining bartender served it up with great service, awesome new drink recommendations, and even past stories that he shared with us was very entertaining! It's our first time in New York and the misconception of New Yorkers being rude changed after meeting Mike! We also met other friendly New Yorkers! Anyways I gave it 4 stars only because I didn't get a chance to try their food but overall service, vibe, and atmosphere was amazing! I definitely recommend this if you are in Time Square!!

Came after a show and got beers and late night snacks. They have the drink selection posted but it's 100% not comprehensive. Beers run you 9-10 bucks though so don't be surprised when you see your bill like we were. Got the guac and chips, Celtic pub burger, and messy burger. Guac was runny but tasted fine. Celtic burger was fine-nothing special. Messy burger on the other hand was a DREAM COME TRUE! The flavors (mushrooms, cheese, bacon, Cole slaw) melded together so so well and really hit the spot. Fries come with burgers but you have to pay extra ($1) for ranch if you want it on the side. Service was nice but not overly attentive.
I would come back now that I know a little more about their selection.

Great roof top, cold beer, good apps and I'll say it again, great roof top. Service was great and our waitress was 2 weeks on the job straight from Ireland. Love it.

We Came here before our Broadway show. We were kind of in a rush, but still hoping to have a sit down dinner. The food was quick and we had two of their signature that were good (and really big!). It was fast but didn't feel rushed. Portions were plenty. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area- Broadway show or not! The staff was very attentive, and friendly. Very nice!

  • *****

Stopped into their rooftop bar to grab a quick bite to eat and drink before our show.
Our waitress was great and all of the staff was very attentive. Our water glasses were never empty!
We ordered appetizers and they were delicious. I definitely recommend the bruschetta.

This is a nice place to relax and unwind after work. I would return again.

I was looking for a great sports bar to watch el clsico soccer game (Real Madrid vs Barcelona) and this was way more than I expected. Amazing crowd, awesome food. Btw, the nachos are superb!!! The draft beer was great and lots of tv's. The location is right in the heart of midtown.

  • *****

The food was very good. Service was great. I am not sure why the ratings are so low for this place. I had the nachos with chicken and the flat bread pizza with sausage. My slam piece liked everything as well.

  • *****

Came for a quick bite for a broadwayvsho and shared appetizers and we were not dissapointed. The food was well prepared and had flavor. The medium sampler is just enough for 2 people but it served its purpose. Service on the roof top bar was always with a smile and very helpful and friendly.

Very pleasant lunch here. Downstairs is a little noisy but upstairs is relatively peaceful. Excellent Pastrami Ruben, good burger and tasty fish. Friendly service and they don't bother you. Good location, close to theatre land.
Great selection of beers on tap.

The view from the 4th floor is worth going just for that. Outside and overlooking everything. Very nice. The Guinness tasted like Guinness so no complaints. The bartender was very sweet and made the experience even better.

Good pub food, Vanessa our server was great.

Good food and decent service in a great location. I go here almost every trip and I'm never disappointed.

It's a shame others didn't have a good experience because we enjoyed every moment. All of our food was amazing as were the drinks. We also had fast service and plenty of refills. It ended out New York trip perfectly.

What a place. Great crowd, great drinks. What more could you ask for?

Perfect escape from the busyness of times square!

  • *****

Nice place for a Saturday or Sunday brunch, you get a free drink off the brunch menu with a brunch purchase. The "eggs in hell" were good, I got mine vegetarian style which was still good without the chorizo. This restaurant is located right near all the theaters so it's a great location with a more laid back feel. Close enough to Times Square, yet far enough away from the touristy craziness!

  • *****

This place is amazing. Excellent location and authentic Irish fare. Walking distance from Times Square. Fabulous and helpful wait staff.

  • *****

Great place to street watch from above. Be prepared to walk the stairs! Good cold brewskis and a full bar...
2nd times a winner! Good bar, meeting great people. Good fried food because you need that when there's a drink special!

Got to try something different and all was very good.

Got the beef stew made with Guinness. Had chunks of tender beef, carrots, potatoes and topped with real mashed potatoes. Was very hearty on this cool evening and it felt good. Taste buds got all excited with the richness of this dish.

The bangers and mash was very good too and even though it was sausage, it tasted light and not fatty.

The dinner salad had all my favorites or carrots, red onions, cranberries, tomatoes and lettuce. The balsamic vinaigrette was just right with tartness and sweetness.

Service was excellent although he didn't introduce himself so I can't recognize him in my review.

This was our second time here and it was just as awesome as the first! We went here with friends after seeing a show...well actually after walking out of the show during intermission, but that's another review :-) Anyway, we ended up having the best time here. The staff is so great and it really does remind me of the pubs we visited in Ireland. Our bartender Connor was so awesome and nice and really took great care of us. All of the food he recommended was fabulous, especially the Irish Curry Chicken...it was so amazing I can't even put it into words! It sounded weird at first but after Connor explained that it is an authentic Irish dish my husband ordered it and I got a grilled chicken wrap. Although my wrap was excellent, my husband and I ended up fighting over the curried chicken, it was that great!! I am definitely ordering that next time we go.

The night we went which was a Thursday they had live music, and it was beautiful Irish music, he was so good. He also took requests and could play anything. We had requests from country music to ACDC and he enjoyed playing it all, and we really enjoyed listening to it. The bar was pretty crowded but we ended up dancing with a bunch of people we met from out of state and had so much fun! Everyone was so friendly and just out to have a great time, which this place definitely makes happen. There were a few guys who obviously just came in from work...they were in suits, and once they settled in they became very relaxed and joined the fun. One of them even danced with us. Thanks to everyone who made the night so awesome...the two couples from out of state who were staying in the city really got a taste of how great the city is, and the Playwright Celtic Pub showed them how true New Yorker's party!!!

I came here after a broadway show with my mom yesterday. It was super delicious. I was craving salmon as well as my mom so we popped in after looking at their menu. We sat on the rooftop which looked a bit disorganized. The tables and chairs were all over the place, but I'm not so picky about that.
We ordered guacamole to start which was very tasty but such a tiny portion for 2 people.
For our main course we had salmon with roasted peppers and apricots on top and on the side steamed veggies. That was amazing! My mom and I both cleaned our plates. I definitely recommend anyone to try it.
We also had 2 teas after we were finished and the bill only came to $66. What a great deal! Definitely coming back!
